Eric's Story

When cancer struck the Yollick household last summer, it came as no stranger to a family who had faced their son's leukemia diagnosis eight years earlier.  Last July, Eric's wife, Tamara, underwent surgery for uterine cancer that was caught early enough to have a good outcome.  To support his wife in maintaining her health, Eric made a life-changing decision to focus on his own health.  Weighing in at four hundred and six pounds in July of 2010, Eric embarked on a diet plan of varied and increased exercise, and careful, sensible eating.

In less than a year, Eric has lost one hundred and fifty-three pounds and plans to lose over one hundred more in the year to come.  The struggle to lose weight is a daily challenge, but Eric has pushed through to this point motivated by a vastly improved quality of life.  He has found additional motivation in registering for the 2012 Iron Man   Competition and plans to fulfill a lifelong desire to climb the high points of every state in the U.S.

On his fiftieth birthday, Eric will be undertaking the climb to the highest point in Colorado, Mount Elbert, which is also the highest point in the Rocky Mountains.  He is also participating in the Aspen Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®'s ‘Race for the Cure®’ in Aspen this summer, two days after his fiftieth birthday.   Eric and Tamara want to encourage the type of research that saved their son's life and hers, and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® 's relentless pursuit of effective cancer treatment is one of the successful avenues of research that the Yollicks are determined to support.

Others can face cancer with hope.  Eric and Tamara want others to have that hope.  Eric would like to ask for your support as he and his wife and the Yollick Law Firm Team participate in the 5K Aspen Race for the Cure® on July 16.”
